PROJECT STORY
A custom Fireplace TV Wall shaped around the room.
A television was already mounted on the wall, but the elevation remained flat and visually unresolved. The redesign brought the TV into a projecting architectural feature, using dark vertical rhythm, a warm wood mantel, and a dedicated linear fireplace surround.
Project goal. Build a projecting custom fireplace TV feature on the existing TV wall using the client-selected dark finish and stained wood mantel.
The new projecting structure is defined by a custom vertical batten wall treatment rather than horizontal shiplap. Its deep charcoal-black finish was applied in client-selected ILVA Italian paint, creating a nearly monolithic backdrop for the mounted television. Below, a custom stained-wood mantel introduces a warm honey-brown horizontal break. A long linear electric fireplace sits within a matching dark painted surround/frame, while the surrounding drywall remains warm ivory in washable paint so the dark center reads as a deliberate focal plane rather than a room-wide color change.

DESIGN & LAYOUT
Decisions shaped around the room.
Deep charcoal-black client-selected ILVA Italian paint on the custom vertical batten wall treatment and fireplace surround, contrasted by a warm honey-brown stained wood mantel and warm ivory washable paint on the surrounding drywall.

MATERIALS & DETAILS
Materials chosen to support the composition.
- Custom vertical batten wall treatment
- ILVA Italian paint in the client-selected deep charcoal-black finish
- Custom wood mantel
- Client-selected wood stain for the mantel
- Long linear electric fireplace
- Custom painted fireplace surround/frame
- Warm ivory washable interior paint for surrounding drywall

MATERIAL & FIREPLACE DETAIL
Vertical battens and the stained mantel create the contrast at the center of the room.
The dark painted wall treatment provides a precise vertical rhythm, while the warm wood mantel separates the TV from the framed linear fireplace.
The fireplace surround is finished in the same dark family as the feature wall, letting the warm stained mantel become the strongest natural-toned accent against the charcoal-black center and ivory perimeter.

BEFORE
The TV was already wall-mounted, but the elevation itself remained flat.
A plain painted wall carried the screen with no fireplace structure, mantel, vertical detailing, or built-in surround.
The new work adds a projecting full-height feature, deep charcoal vertical battens, a stained wood mantel, and a long linear electric fireplace while keeping the room perimeter warm ivory.
THE RESULT
A finished feature designed to belong to the room.
The former flat TV wall now has depth and hierarchy: dark vertical battens establish the full-height feature, the warm mantel separates TV from fireplace, and the ivory perimeter keeps the composition balanced.
